Mike graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Waterloo and obtained his designation as a Certified Management Accountant in 1989 followed by his designation as a Chartered Accountant in 1993.

For 20 years, from January 1999 until December 2018, Mike was in partnership with Norm Smith providing tax and accounting services as Smith & Lassaline Chartered Accountants in Barrie, Ontario. Mike became a partner in Rumley Holmes LLP in January 2019 when Smith & Lassaline merged with Rumley Holmes.

Mike has been a trusted accounting and tax advisor to the public for over 25 years and posses a wide range of experience advising small business owner-managers with their accounting, corporate and personal tax needs. He also has extensive experience with not-for-profit audits and Trust taxation.

Mike has served on several not-for-profit Boards, but somehow always manages to find time to visit the gym, play squash or golf and yet still manages to lace up the skates once a week during hockey season.
